Fun Facts:
The Great Spotted Kiwi is the largest of all Kiwis, standing about 45cm tall, and their eggs are the largest of all birds, relative to body size.
They live in forested mountains, mostly in the subalpine zone from 700-1100m above sea level. They use a wide variety of habitats including tussock grasslands, beech forests, podocarp/hardwood forests and scrub.
Because their natural habitat is less hospitable to predators they are able to maintain a more stable population base than other kiwi.
