Moreporks are noctural, meaning they hunt at night for large invertebrates, this includes beetles, weta, moths and spiders.

They have acute hearing and are often heard at dusk and throughout the night.

They are commonly found in forests throughout New Zealand and on offshore Islands.

Moreporks are very sensitive to the light. They can also turn their head 270 degrees.
